Composite Plate / Welded Wear Plates

Description

The hardfacing process is carried out using flux-cored wire electrodes, allowing for a more homogeneous deposition with fine carbides, a more consistent thickness, and finer, well-distributed cracks. These characteristics provide higher wear resistance compared to conventional composite plates. The appearance and hardness of composite plates are highly uniform, ensuring consistent quality from batch to batch. A low-carbon alloyed steel is used as the base material, which enables cutting (water jet cutting is recommended), cold forming, and welding.

Pre-Hardened Engineering Steel Plates

Application Area

TOOLOX® is used in mechanical engineering applications where exceptionally high demands are placed on dimensional stability, strength, hardness, toughness, temperature resistance (up to 590°C), and steel purity.

Description

TOOLOX® is a modern quenched and tempered tool and engineering steel with measured and guaranteed mechanical properties. Its excellent machinability, combined with outstanding mechanical characteristics, allows for significant time savings in manufacturing. The foundation of these properties lies in its metallurgical concept, which is based on a low carbon content and a low alloying element ratio.

Properties

TOOLOX® is a steel that combines hardness and toughness while maintaining exceptional dimensional stability. It can be used without additional heat treatment, making it ideal for applications requiring tight tolerances, as its mechanical properties eliminate the need for further heat treatment.

Welding: TOOLOX® is easily weldable when following the recommended procedures.

Machining: TOOLOX® offers excellent machinability when processed within the recommended parameters.

Polishing and Etching: TOOLOX® is a highly homogeneous material, comparable to Electroslag Remelted (ESR) steel, making it ideal for photo-etching and polishing. These properties are particularly beneficial in toolmaking, where the surface of a plastic component is defined by the tool’s finish—whether smooth, glossy, or textured.

Structural Steel Plate

Application Area

Structural steel plates are used where high strength values and impact toughness at -40°C are required. Due to their excellent mechanical properties, these plates enable the construction of lighter structures with reduced wall thickness, helping to save weight. They are particularly suitable for vehicle manufacturing, lifting equipment, and cranes.

Description

Structural steel plates are low-alloy, quenched, and tempered steel sheets. They are suitable for welding, bending, drilling, and cutting and are not intended for additional heat treatments. As a QUARD Ambassador, we are the official representative of NLMK Clabecq in Switzerland. Plastics (Customized to Customer Specifications)

Technical Ceramics (Customized to Customer Specifications)

Application Area

Stahl-Contor offers wear parts that are protected with ceramics. These components are particularly advantageous where fine, aggressive particles at high speeds are responsible for wear.

Benefits

Components protected with technical ceramics can be used at operating temperatures up to 1,500°C and are highly resistant to weathering effects, acids (except hydrofluoric acid), and alkalies. They provide excellent protection, particularly when fine particles at high velocities cause wear. This type of wear is commonly found in pipes, elbows, hoppers, etc.

Product Offer

We offer three different types of wear parts with technical ceramics:

DURZALT 40: Made from high-quality basalt derived from special lava stone, DURZALT 40 is suitable for temperatures up to 350°C. In thicknesses of 18-25mm, it is used as internal protection for pipes (minimum internal pipe diameter: 50mm), and in 30mm thickness, it is used in elbows (minimum elbow diameter: 50mm). The service life of DURZALT 40 is six to seven times longer than steel in suitable applications.

DURHART 200: Composed of a mixture of high-purity metal oxides, DURHART 200 is melted in an electric furnace at temperatures exceeding 1,800°C. It can be used at temperatures up to 1,500°C. Available in 25-50mm thickness as tiles or as internal protection for pipes (minimum internal pipe diameter: 50mm) and in 30mm thickness for elbows (minimum elbow diameter: 50mm). The service life of DURHART 200 is three to five times longer than DURZALT 40 in appropriate applications.

ALDUR 240: Made from a complex powder blend, the powder is shaped and compressed under extremely high pressure. After processing, ALDUR 240 is fired in a furnace at 1,500°C to achieve an extremely compact structure with high density and hardness. It can be used at temperatures up to 1,200°C. ALDUR 240 is at the top of our materials for protection against sliding wear.

Parts protected with technical ceramics are custom-made based on customer specifications.
